With Great Pride,
I Will Tell You The History Of Webaholics.
I
was pretty new to the internet when I came across a web site made
by a young lady who lives in
Paramaribo, Suriname. A small country in South America, right
above Brazil & between Guyana and French Guyana. She had this
very small page with a form that allowed you to announce the to
the world that you were a Web~A~Holic. All she asked was that if
you post a picture of her logo to on your web site, that she in
turn would post a link to theirs.
I thought this was a wonderful idea. So I answered her questionnaire
and waited for my link. Well, after several months of waiting, I
contacted her by email. After emailing her for quite some time,
I found out that she was in school studying and that the response
to her web site was over whelming. I being new to the internet wanted
to help her the best that I could. So as our emails became more
personal I asked her if she wanted to make a new web site She agreed.
So I set to motion a new web site
I
was in for a big surprise, Debby and I both created a web site called
Web~A~holics
United, and once it was up we went to the existing members web
sites and told them about the new page, the more and more that people
joined the more and more URL's the both of us had to add to the
existing site, We didn't know anything about databases and because
it was a free web site posted on yahoo we were adding these web
site manually. It was what I call HTML ugly work. I remember after
cleaning out our mailbox, I took a week break, and when I reopened
our mail box I found that 1000 new members joined and have been
waiting to add to the sight. The response was completely overwhelming.
I found I spend my entire weekends updating the web site It was
so overwhelming that I had to give up. It was too bad because our
members were enjoying themselves.
Which brings us today, I have been working and applying for jobs
as a web site designer, and have been toying with the idea of creating
a professional web site, that has a database that allows the members
to log in and update there URL's as needed. I also wanted a way
to email the members to ask for input, and let them know what new
things that are out there for them to enjoy on the net. I also wanted
a way for people to search each others web sites locate one an other
if they wanted to.
I am currently working on this web site designing a database and
search engine. So keep looking. I will be added stuff over the next
few months. Email me if you have any
questions, or ideas.
I know that this going to be allot of work, but my hard work for
this site, will pay off. I purchased this site so there would be
no annoying pop-ups, and ads to interfere with this web site.
Enjoy your stay!!
